Broadening your Global Perspectives through Travel

Rick Steves, America’s most respected authority on European travel, is host of the public television series “ Rick Steve’s Europe, public radio show “Travel with Rick Steves,” and author of more than 50 European travel books. He also advocates smart, independent, perspective- broadening travel and encourages Americans to dive deep into Europe and become “temporary locals.”

Over the past 20 years, Rick has hosted over 100 travel shows for public television, and numerous pledge specials that raised over millions of dollars for local stations. His Rick Steves’ Europe TV series is carried by 300 stations. Rick has created three award-winning public television specials” Rick Steves’ European Christmas”, Rick Steve’s Iran, and the recent Lowell Thomas Golden Award winner, The Holy Land: Israelis and Palestinians Today.

Rick’s popular podcasts led him to organize an audio library of self-guided walking tours and radio interviews on the free mobile app Rick Steves Audio Europe.

Rick is outspoken on the need for Americans to fit better into our planet by broadening our perspectives through travel. He is also committed to his own neighborhood. Rick has provided his local YWCA with a 24-unit apartment building to house homeless mothers and regularly supports a variety of local and national not-for-profit organizations.

Rick spends about a third of every year in Europe, researching guidebooks, filming TV shows, and making new discoveries for travelers. He lives and works in his hometown of Edmonds, Washington, where his office overlooks his former junior high school.
