Peter Landsberger

Peter Landsberger grew up in Southern California and attended Santa Monica College before transferring to earn bachelor’s and law degrees at UC Berkeley. He was named Foothill-De Anza’s first general counsel in 1978 and later promoted to vice chancellor supervising all district office operations.

Landsberger held various positions in community college administration during his almost forty-year career. He served as dean at De Anza College and president at the College of San Mateo. At Foothill-De Anza he was involved in developing apprenticeship opportunities for students Many students enjoy the hands-on learning experiences at their work program and many partnerships have proven successful.

During his retirement Landsberger was first elected to the Foothill-De Anza Community College District Board of Trustees, representing Trustee Area 3, in November 2016. He was reelected in 2020  and 2024; his current term expires in 2028. He has served on the boards of several community  organizations, including the Foothill-De Anza Foundation, the Community School of Music & Arts, and the San Jose-Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce Foundation.
