Celebrating our 75th season with Gilbert & Sullivan’s Music

Founded in 1952, Lamplighters Music Theater, brings classic operettas to life with heart, humor, and passion. The group presents annual productions at theaters in Mountain View, Walnut Creek and San Francisco.

Gilbert and Sullivan were the iconic Victorian-era duo responsible for creating a series of groundbreaking operettas including H.M.S. Pinafore, The Pirates of Penzance and The Mikado. Their work revolutionized musical theater bridging the gap between grand opera, modern musical theater, and comedy. They popularized the “patter song,” and showcased ensemble harmony as a narrative device.

Lamplighters Music Theater also partners with local schools and nonprofits to provide arts education through their Lamps Lite, Student Opera Night, and Youth Board programs.
