King is the best-selling author of highly researched books on Renaissance art, architecture and history.  Brunellischi’s Dome recounts how a goldsmith’s incredible talents produced the magnificent dome crowning Florence’s Santa Maria del Fiore cathedral.  King is an active fundraiser, lecturer and tour guide for Friends of Florence.  He is a regular participant in Italian Renaissance seminars at the Aspen Institute and a Smithsonian Expert as well as a valued speaker at museums such as the Art Institute of Chicago, the Frick Collection and the National Gallery.

His most recent book, The Bookseller of Florence, tells the remarkable true story of a fifteenth-century man who produced hundreds of exquisite illuminated manuscripts.  Other books by King include:  Michelangelo and the Pope’s Ceiling (2002), The Judgement of Paris (2006 Governor General’s Award), Leonardo and the Last Supper (2012 Governor General’s Award) and Mad Enchantment:  Claude Monet and the Painting of the Water Lilies (2017 Charles Taylor Prize.)
