Sivani Babu is an award-winning photographer, journalist, and writer. After graduating from University of Chicago she joined the Teach for America Corps. She then went to the University of Pennsylvania’s Law School and worked as a federal public defender in Texas.
Several years later, Sivani left her law career to pursue her love of photography and travel. She spent time photographing and writing travel stories while exploring Antarctica, chasing storms through Tornado Alley, hanging out of helicopters over California wildfires, and searching for polar bears in the Arctic Circle.
In 2017 Ms. Babu and another woman journalist co-founded and now are co-CEOs of Hidden Compass, a media company that edits and publishes travel stories. She is currently at work on her first book, Saving the Night: Shedding Light on The Importance of Darkness.
